Job DescriptionGeneral Summary:
The Director of Marketing Technologies at Vertex will be responsible for overseeing and managing three functional platform areas: web, marketing automation & customer data platforms, and promotional content management platforms. This role will ensure the effective integration and utilization of platforms such as Aquia, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Marketo, Tealium, and Veeva Vault PromoMats to drive marketing initiatives and enhance customer engagement. Additionally, this role will be responsible for providing strategic guidance on adopting AI capabilities within our platforms or acquiring complementary platforms to increase efficiencies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the strategic planning, implementation, and management of web platforms, marketing automation & customer data platforms, and promotional content management platforms.
- Lead a team of marketing technology professionals to ensure the successful execution of marketing campaigns and initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align marketing technology strategies with business objectives.
- Ensure the seamless integration of Aquia, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Marketo, Tealium, and Veeva Vault PromoMats with other marketing and business systems.
- Monitor and analyze the performance of marketing technologies to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in marketing technologies to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
- Provide training and support to marketing teams on the effective use of marketing technologies.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Provide strategic guidance on adopting AI capabilities within our platforms or acquiring complementary platforms to increase efficiencies.
- Manage relationships with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to ensure the delivery of high-quality services and solutions.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to support professional growth and development.
- Oversee budget management for marketing technologies, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost-effective solutions.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong understanding of marketing technology platforms and their integration with other business systems
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of AI capabilities and their application in marketing technologies.
- Strong understanding of Global privacy and consent regulations such as GDPR, CCPA and ePrivacy
- Ability to clearly articulate requirements, identify gaps, mitigate issues, and reach consensus
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively translate complex technical requirements for business stakeholders
- Ability to stay abreast of industry and technology trends
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt and change to business priorities
- Problem-solving mindset and a proactive approach to challenges
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to think strategically and drive innovation.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in marketing technology or related role
- Proven experience in managing and overseeing web platforms, marketing automation & customer data platforms, and promotional content management platforms.
- Experience with Aquia, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Marketo, Tealium, and Veeva Vault PromoMats is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated project management abilities, including prioritization, time management, and adherence to deadlines
- Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into prioritized product capability roadmaps
- Demonstrated experience managing vendors, including application vendors, managed service providers and development teams
- Experience collaborating with on and off-shore agile development teams, as well as communicating with various stakeholders with varying degrees of technical aptitude
- Experience with integration patterns, data architecture and APIs
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in fast-paced environments
- Life Science or Pharmaceutical Industry experience preferred
Pay Range:
$188,800 - $283,100
Disclosure Statement:
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Flex Designation:
Hybrid-Eligible Or On-Site Eligible
Flex Eligibility Status:
In this Hybrid-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as:
1. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
2. On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
Note: The Flex status for this position is subject to Vertex's Policy on Flex @ Vertex Program and may be changed at any time.
